                    The Rhythm of the Ancient Marine

line 1              It is an ancient Marine,
line 2              And he stoppeth one of three.
line 3              'By the long grey beard and glittering eye,
spurious line 1     Shall I compare thee to a Summer's day?


line 5              The Bridegroom's doors are open'd wide,
line 6              And I am next of kin;
line 11             'Hold off! unhand me, grey-beard loon!'
spurious line 2     Thou art more lovely and more temperate:

line 13             He holds him with his glittering eye -
line 12             Eftsoons his hand dropt he.
line 9              He holds him with his skinny hand,
line 14             The Wedding_Guest stood still,

spurious line 3     Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
spurious line 4     And Summer's lease hath all too short a date:
